TAP IN for Complex Communicators: An Online Program for Speech Therapists, Parents, & Communication Partners
Are you supporting a limited or non-speaking teen or adult? Are you frustrated by materials that are "too baby" for your complex communicator? The TAP IN program was designed just for you!
TAP IN is a program designed for teen and adult non-speakers to help AAC users truly “TAP IN”—Think, Access, and Participate in authentic and meaningful ways. Our program goes beyond just providing AAC devices by tapping into authentic communication.
TAP IN is a program developed by speech therapists with over 15 years of experience working with students of all ages with complex communication. Over the years, we found it difficult to locate materials that were evidence-based and age-respectful for our students. So, we've been creating and successfully implementing it since 2021, and now we want to share it with you!
The TAP IN framework is guided by our speech therapists to help unlock each individual’s potential by honoring their strengths and supporting their challenges while offering coaching for other speech therapists, including important guidance for communication partners, teachers, and support staff.
With TAP IN, you’ll gain access to evidence-based tools, training videos, adaptable curriculum, and ready-to-use materials that make continued communication growth possible for limited- and non-speakers who use all forms of AAC.
Whether you’re a caregiver, therapist, or educator, you’ll walk away with everything you need to confidently help your AAC user connect, learn, and thrive in daily life.

TAP IN is a communication and advocacy online program created by Jill D’Braunstein and Meghan Wilson, drawing on 20 years of experience supporting non-speaking students with complex communication needs.
Here’s what’s included:
Pre-recorded lessons with high-interest, age-respectful content that develops autonomous communication while still focusing on early language and literacy concepts.
Curriculum and interactive materials
Option to add-on coaching
-
It takes a team to support complex communicators on their language journey! That’s why TAP IN was designed to empower educators and caregivers. We’ll provide you with strategies and adaptable materials to unlock your students’ communication.
Our materials offer various levels of support to check for understanding. For limited-, unreliable-, or non-speakers, it is imperative that your teen/adult demonstrates their knowledge. We provide that! TAP IN provides age-respectful interest areas, leveled literacy, and monthly repetitive practice in key areas of communication, literacy, and advocacy for continued practice and mastery.
-
The TAP IN program is user-friendly for everyone, whether you are a trained therapist, educator, communication partner, or caregiver.
We’ll give you everything you need to feel confident about using TAP IN, including lesson plans, core boards, and "how-to" videos so that you can get started right away.
-
The TAP IN program provides various activities in each module to target expressive language, vocabulary, phonemic awareness, spelling, comprehension, and self-advocacy.

Meet Your TAP IN Team
Jill D’Braunstein, MA, CCC-SLP
Hi, I’m Jill, a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 30 years of experience helping individuals find their voices and thrive through communication. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with children, teens, and adults across many areas, but my true passions are:
AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication) – supporting people in using technology and tools to express themselves authentically.
Literacy – is my love language! I cherish when I am able to build strong reading and writing foundations that open doors for confidence, independence, and learning for all.
Advocacy – making sure every communicator has a seat at the table and a voice that is valued.
I believe that communication is a human right, and my mission is to empower individuals and their families with strategies, tools, and confidence to share their stories, ideas, and dreams.
Thank you for being here!
